*Going to a baby shower and having one of the ladies compliment Justin. She said he gave the best narrative on the story of Lazarus that she's ever heard...and it was completely unplanned. Of course I was proud, but a bit baffled. We haven't talked about Lazarus for a very long time...like over a year or more. He's got a photographic memory. Maybe this means he's remembering some of our FHE or talks we have. Just maybe.
*We went out to eat at a restaurant (a rarity at our house) and the boys were so polite. Seriously they said "yes, please" or "no thank you" whenever the waitress talked to them. I didn't even have to remind them. You could tell the waitress just wanted to eat them up, especially Matthew. And so did I.
*Having the biggest water fight of the summer. It was so much fun. So wet..but so much fun. Seeing the boys and Emily's white bottoms when they stripped on the patio was also pretty joyful. I love my husando and having fun with him.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
