*Reading. I love to read. I reread a book I read a few years ago. My memory is horrible, so it was like I was reading it for the first time. Even the HUGE points in the book (like which main characters were killed) I had forgotten. It was delightful. Wonderful. But I'm mourning a bit now that it's done.
*laying in bed with Emily during her nap time. Closing my eyes, hearing her slowly suck her thumb and then feel her fingertips every so lightly caress my face. I opened my eyes to see nothing but her two smiling eyes right next to mine. I could tell she was smiling just by looking in her eyes, and then hearing her giggle confirmed it. aaaahhhh.
*Going out in the backyard after dinner and laying on the grass with Klint. Blessed cooler weather. Not going to last past today...but I'll love it while it's here.
*Seeing Matthew's face light up when he saw me come into his classroom with his pet rat for Show and Tell. He wasn't sure I was coming (I told him I was...but he still had his doubts). I loved being able to tell exactly what he was thinking just by the look on his face. I also saw love in his eyes. For me!! Definitely a joyful moment.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?

What a minute...what the??!?! You have a BLOG??? I love your blog!! How come I didn't know you had one? My jaw is gaping. Now I get to read your wonderful Tricia thoughts whenever the heck I want...hooray!!!
