* Shopping at Kohls. I had a $10 coupon a sweet sweet sister gave me, and I found some killer deals. Including workout clothes for $2.40! I think the Lord is aware of my needs (and wants) and is oh so good to me.
*Visiting teaching. Yep, it's the second to last day of the month, but c'est la vive. I love this lady. I've been trying to catch up with her all month. She is just so genuine. I hope to get to know her more deeply over the next few months.
*Getting a surprise call from a sister inviting my family for a lasagna dinner. It was 4:00 and I still had no idea (or motivation) of what to make for dinner. I skipped around the kitchen so excited. It was a lovely dinner, delicious food, wonderful conversation and the kids had a blast playing with their kids. happy happy sigh.
*hearing my kids playing loudly with my friends kids. Really loudly. Feeling Matthew's head and how sweaty he was. That's how I know he had a really good time. When it was time to go I found Emily in Sidney's bed (who is Matthew's age). Cuddled under the blanket looking at Sidney's books. Joyful to be their mom.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
