* After the boys went to school/work, Emily and I went to read books. This morning, she wanted to read 'em on her bed. I obliged. After reading for about 30-40 minutes I got up and asked if she wanted to color. She declined and said how she wanted to stay in her bed and look at books. I left...came back about 10 minutes later to check on her and she was sound asleep. This. never. happens. She looked so beautiful and peaceful. She slept for over an hour! Poor girl can't quite get her sleep caught up from our trip.
*Getting the Halloween decorations out. I know...I know...it's not even October. But it's close. I love opening up the boxes and seeing everything...many of which I had forgotten about.
*Talking with Matthew as he laid on the couch (he has a stomach bug today) while I decorated the mantel with colored leaves and skulls (what a combination I know!).
*Hanging a picture above said mantel. The picture has been sitting on the mantel for over nine months, and tonight we finally hung it. My husbando is awesome!! I definitely couldn't have done it, but he did. It looks lovely! We worked together with no fighting or swearing. A lovely success.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
