*After several mishaps this morning I laughed. I felt joy in myself that I chose to laugh instead of cry. I may not be laughing if I have to hire a plumber to fix one of the "mishaps" but for today I laughed.
*listening to Emily sing her made up songs. She's so creative. Anytime I hear her deep voice singing I sneak in to listen, it's always a treat. I really need to capture it on video.
*hearing Matthew randomly proclaim at dinner that he likes himself. Sigh!! I asked if they talked about it in school today, he said no. He just said he'd been thinking about it and decided he liked himself and was proud of himself.
*Doing hard things. Like working out. Not quitting, even after the many "mishaps".

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
