* Sitting in the backyard at 8:30 in the morning. Pulling weeds out from the grass. Had this conversation with Matthew.
M: Mom, I love the weeds.
Me: You do? Why do you love the weeds Matts?
M: well, you know in the bible it says to love your enemies. Weeds are definitely our
enemies. So I love them.
wow.
*Justin reading all day long. Seriously all day. It was wonderful to have Luke playing with Matthew or he would have gone crazy. Justin finished the 2nd Harry Potter in just over a day. I loved this because that's what I like to do when I find a good book. Ignore everything else until I finish. I felt a connection with him today.
*Eating dinner with great friends. Friends that I feel comfortable enough around to go over with my hair pulled back, hardly any makeup and a dirty shirt on. And not feeling uncomfortable about it at all. I love them. I hope they stay in Lubbock. They are wonderful examples to me of faith, and an honest desire to please our Heavenly Father. I am happy when I am around them.
*Scheming with my sister. I like scheming, especially when I think of my kids' faces when they find out about it.
* laying in my bed after a busy day. It makes me happy too.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
