*Starting a new family Christmas tradition. I love traditions. I love looking forward to them, I love having the kids ask about them, I love planning them, and I especially love fulfilling them. I can already tell this tradition is going to be one of my favorites.
*Pulling Justin and Matthew out of school for an "appointment" for a couple of hours so we could do our new tradition activity. Seeing them so excited to come with me and their Dad who also skipped work for a few hours.
*Klint taking time off for our special day, but the thing I really loved was that he took off a few extra minutes and spent some quiet time with me before picking up the boys.
*Watching Justin sing at his "December Celebrations" program at school. Geesh...they can't even call it a Christmas program anymore...but I digress... He looked so sharp all dressed up and sounded so good. I love watching him grow. I love that when he finaly spotted us in the crowd and I gave him a thumbs up sign he smiled so big. It makes me smile just thinking about it right now.

Because of those "funkish" moments that I experience every once and while, I want to do as Elder Ballard counseled a few years ago and find joy in the moments of motherhood. To help me do that, I am going to try and write four motherly things that either (1) made me smile (2) appreciate the sweet three kids that have been entrusted to me (3) feel joy in my decision to raise a family and be a full time mom (4) recognize the Lords hand in helping me to be successful as a Latter Day Saint woman and mother.
I have to add that my life isn't perfect. I hope that if anyone ever comes across this blog and reads it (which I am doubtful of) and compares themselves to it, or feels guilt or bad about themselves that they'll realize these are the HIGH points of my life, not my every waking moments. I have terrible mothering moments all the time. And that's the problem, that's why I wanted to start this. I feel so much guilt (which I'm trying to only save for sin now) about the things I do wrong or could have done better, or didn't do at all, that it can be crippling on those funkish days. I'm not trying to pretend that my life is perfect or everything is rosy. Opposition in all things right? We have to have the bad to know the good, the sad to know the happy. Don't compare your low points with my high points. Deal?
