Race in America

I've watched with interest the democratic presidential nomination over the past few months. I'm not a democrat (or a republican for that matter - neither side is very agreeable with me anymore), but it's still been interesting to see the process unfold. I've been a little irritated and dismayed lately about the flap over Barack Obama's pastor's comments about race in America, but I respected what I heard from Obama concerning race in his "More Perfect Union" address. I had thought that, in an effort to curry votes, he might have tried to paint a rosy "we're all human beings" picture, but he spoke more strongly about racism in America than I anticipated. Some might argue that this is an effort to keep the black vote; I would like to believe differently. I don't love Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton, or John McCain, but I did feel that Obama has addressed the issue of race more sincerely than any other candidate to this point. I recently read an article that expressed this much better than I am doing. Check it out - it's not long - by following the link below.

I was also impressed with the speech. I think he honestly spoke about racism and the problems we still have in the U.S. regarding it. Of course, I already liked Obama, but this gave me more reason to support him.

This has nothing to do with the Race in America, but I just wanted to let you know that it was great seeing you the other day. I wish it could have been better circumstances, but it was still fun to see you. It is so fun to see the pictures of your family, too. Your boys are so cute.

I hope all is going well.--Candis
