Doctors…Doctors…Doctors! Last Friday was quite busy for us. I was brave (or rather stupid) and scheduled all three kiddos well checks at the same time. I thought I would save gas and get them all over at the same time. What a stressful afternoon. I think I’ll pay for the extra gas next time:-)Here’s the report:
Justin:
39.5 lbs (he’s lost 5-6 pounds from his bout with pneumonia, but his appetite is back so look out) He’s right on track for Kindergarten and everything looks great! He’s going to have his routine ultrasound done to make sure everything is working well with his kidneys. Justin was very brave when they had to take his blood. What a great example for his little bro and sis.
Matthew:
36 pounds
Matthew’s back on his nebilizer for his asthma, but they think by summer he’ll be off it again until fall. Developmental everything looks great except his speech articulation. He’s going to meet with a speech therapist and see if they can help him out a bit. The doctor was pretty impressed with his vocabulary and the length of sentences he forms, she just couldn’t understand half of it :-) Matthew had to get his blood taken twice since the first one clotted. He was so brave, and as soon as it was done he was just fine, like nothing had happened. Kids are so resilient aren’t they?
Emily:
11 lbs 14 ounces---She nearly doubled her birth weight!
22 ½ inches long—Can you imagine growing 5 inches in 2 months?
It was a sad, sad day for Emily. The doctors are a little concerned because she keeps getting jaundiced, and then it will go away, and then she’ll be jaundiced, and then it will go away, etc…etc… So they are doing a bunch of blood work to try and figure if something is goin’ on with her liver. Which meant a BIG pock for Miss M. She was devastated that they decided to take the blood from her arm instead her heel. I haven’t ever seen her get so mad or in so much pain, it was worse than the hospital when she was only a week old. To add insult to injury, she also got her first immunizations, which didn’t make her any happier. Later that night Miss M screamed, not her normal little whine but full blown scream, for over 30 minutes. Klint and I were terrified, because barring pocks from needles she rarely cries. She’ll let a single cry out just to warn you that something needs to be done with her, and then she’s quiet again. But the only thing that calmed her down was when Klint gave her a priesthood blessing. She was instantly soothed. Definitely a tender mercy. I pray that the rest of her immunizations aren’t that bad.
On a lighter note-
We went back to Church for all three hours yesterday! It's the first time since the beginning of December :-) It went beautifully. Emily slept through the entire thing, but she still found it rather exhausting because she slept the rest of the day (except for feedings)until 10:00 that night. You might be wondering if she slept last night after all that daytime napping, and you'll be happy to know she did. She fell back asleep around 11 and only got up once at 3 to eat. She loves her dreams :-)

We hope all the kiddos can stay healthy. I'm sure Justin and Matthew are on their way to superhero-status--gymnastics plus their abilities to withstand large amounts of pain (doctor's procedures and poking).
