We're safe

Luckily, we must be on high ground because our house did not flood. Not so for much of Lubbock, whose houses are drying out as we speak. Many of the intersections in town were completely underwater today, and they did end up cancelling all classes at Tech which means 3 DAY WEEKEND!! It's sad that a lot of people spent today sandbagging but it was pretty relaxed on our part. They said that the towtrucks in town have a 7 hour wait-list to go rescue cars that stalled out after being submerged in the water, but we were okay. The funniest (in a sad sort of way) story is that the Jones Stadium (Texas Tech's stadium) was still under a foot of water today and tomorrow is a home game. Lucky for us the fire department came and pumped the water out so that we could still play on Saturday - heaven forbid they save people or put out fires or rescue cats from trees. Also funny and kind of sad, all the school classes were cancelled today throughout Lubbock, but all the high school teams played their Friday night football. It's a matter of priorities, I guess.

P.S. Thanks, all you devoted readers, for being concerned for our safety and posting on the blog. Sheesh...
