Yeah, yeah, I know Thanksgiving was last week, but I'm always, forever, catching up! This Thanksgiving was like none I have ever experienced. Not only because we live in Texas now, but because it was the first holiday where we didn't go anywhere. Normally Thanksgiving is wonderful, but a stressful day trying to see all the family, often going to 4 or more houses.
This year my wonderful family, including my sister and her family, and my parents made the looooonnngg trek to Lubbock. This was so wonderful, especially considering my little one year old nephew screams if he's in the car longer than 30 minutes :-) Thanks Cari! I have to admit we were a little anxious having 11 people in our house, but it couldn't have gone better. Cari (my sister), my mom, and I made almost all of the food the night before, so Thanksgiving day was pleasant. We only had to cook the turkey and the yams. And to make it even better it snowed, yeap you heard me right it SNOWED on Thanksgiving here in Lubbock. I've completely stopped trying to figure out Texas weather. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving it was 81 degrees, and then it snowed two days later :-) I am however, not complaining. It was like a tender mercy for me. It did my wee little heart good to see the flakes float peacefully to the Earth.
We had a wonderful feast after playing in the snow (it didn't really accumulate alot, but there was enough for a tiny snow ball fight). We then played a few thankful games (kind of corny, but super fun to watch the kids...and adults...really get into it) and had some wonderful dessert, although the pumpkin cheesecake we were all looking forward wasn't nearly as scrumptious as we were hoping it to be. It was a wonderful day. A day of much gratitude and thanks. We are so blest in our life! Thanks fam for spending it with us. It wouldn't have been as wonderful without you.
Here's a small slideshow of some of the festitives. Look at that beautiful turkey!! Could it have turned out more beautiful?!?!
